What Am I Doing?

I’ve been in Guatemala for 4 weeks now. You’re probably wondering what I’m doing here. Well, wonder no more, I’m about to tell you. Get comfortable, I’ll try to make it easy to follow but know there’s a lot going on.

Let’s start with this past week. I was able to go to Xenacoj with two base members to help install stoves for some widows I met on my race. Xenacoj was my favorite ministry when I came through Guatemala month 4 of my race. I was able to see my contacts German, Suzy, and their family again. What a sweet reunion. We prayed over widows, stoves, and babies.

Besides helping at Casa Shalom which I wrote about in my last blog, I’m also helping with the mobilizing team. That means I’ll be helping hold conferences for churches and leaders in Guatemala who want to do more. Who want to go deeper in their faith. Who wish to see miracles. Who want to serve the world. This is a stretch for me. It’s a big yes because I know I’m not capable of doing anything on my own. The more inadequate I feel, the more room there is for Jesus to fill in the gaps. That’s what mobilization is all about. We can’t do anything without Jesus already moving in the people we present opportunities to.  This year we will be sending Guatemalans to Peru and Nicaragua. They are going to serve the nations. Last year Guatemalans served Honduras. Check out this video to get a first hand look of what’s happening in mobilization. I’m excited to work along side them and be challenged to go a little deeper in my faith.

I will also be helping out with Beauty For Ashes. This is a retreat put on for women to teach them how to have an intimate relationship with Jesus and finding freedom from their shame. We will be doing a retreat with some of the widows from Xenacoj during a PVT trip for the World Race, and a different one for the house moms at Casa Shalom. This is something I’m excited about because I get to grow along side them. I’m still in the beginning stages in my intimacy with Christ, so I’ll get to learn from them and hopefully we can share stories that will help each other.

Before I came to Guatemala Marielle, CGA director here in Guatemala, asked me what I wanted to do here. What I felt like I could bring to the team. I didn’t have a specific direction, I just knew I wanted to help. I wanted to serve in the area that needed an extra hand. This week as I was talking to the mobilization crew (Gabe, Kelsey, and Angela) I realized I have my hand in a lot. I am in a relationship with each long term missionary here. Kellie is discipling me, Michelle is my apprenticeship supervisor, Marielle is my CGA director, and the other three with mobilization. God is so cool, that he would allow me maximize my learning and be challenged by each person here. I’m looking forward to the challenge and saying YES to all things that will point me into a more intimate relationship with my Father.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to me this far. I’m 83% funded. I am still in need of $829 to be fully funded. If you would pray and consider giving any amount, I would be grateful. You would be making a donation that impacts the Kingdom.
